The Fashion Image cluster at UCA's School of Creative Business, Fashion and Enterprise has an established reputation for developing creative fashion graduates with a broad range of industry-aligned skills. An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a key role in the development, delivery and integration of emerging fashion technologies and innovative digital practices across the MA Digital Fashion, which ranked first globally in The Rookies Global School Rankings 2024, and the wider Fashion Image portfolio of courses at our Epsom campus.
We are looking for someone who can build on and expand our current teaching provision, contribute to our research environment and take on the responsibilities of Lecturer and Year Lead. You are a creative practitioner and educator who combines contemporary expertise in digital fashion technologies, including 3D garment design, digital pattern cutting, world-building, immersive and XR experiences and AI-driven creative workflows, with a critical awareness of the cultural, social and ethical debates shaping the evolving relationship between fashion and technology. You will bring practical knowledge of industry-relevant software and creative tools such as Unreal Engine, Blender, CLO3D, Adobe Substance 3D and TouchDesigner, combined with the ability to critically evaluate and integrate emerging technologies into innovative creative practice and teaching.
You will support students in exploring the connections between physical and digital fashion practices through experimental and speculative approaches to fashion image-making, virtual garments, digital avatars, gaming and interactive environments. Working across disciplines, you will encourage students to develop distinctive creative narratives, challenge conventional approaches to fashion practice, design and visual storytelling and investigate new possibilities for creative expression, audience engagement and the expanded role of fashion within visual and digital culture, supporting their development as future-facing creative technologists.
You will join a dedicated and diverse fashion team focused on achieving exemplary student outcomes. Prior experience of teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate degree course level is required. You must be able to demonstrate good team working abilities as well as good organisational and communication skills. The teaching duties will include all related course administration and require the successful candidate to be pro-active in developing new learning and teaching methods. The candidate will also be required to participate in marketing and student recruitment activities and to potentially engage in professional research in the subject area.
The role is based at the Epsom Campus. You may be required to work at other campuses on occasion.
Actual salary for 18 hours a week is £20,390.40 per annum.
